Professor Vacancies at Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), Delhi on Rolling Basis

Institute of Economic Growth (IEG), Delhi is inviting applications from individuals to fill the post of Professor (General Category) at the Pay Matrix Level-14 at the Indian Economics Service Unit on rolling basis.

Minimum Qualification: Eligibility (A or B) A. (i) An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Economics, and published work of high quality, actively engaged in research with evidence of published work with, a minimum of 10 research publications in peer reviewed or UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120 as per criteria given in Appendix-II, Table 2 (enclosed). (ii) A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/Associate Professor and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates. Or B. An outstanding professional, having a Ph.D. degree in Economics, from any academic institutions (not included in A above)/industry, who has made a significant contribution to the knowledge in the Economics, supported by documentary evidence provided he/she has ten years experience.

Additional Requirement: Will need to teach applied micro-economics (including panel data and time series) in the training programmes for the Indian Economic Service held at the Institute. Preferably should also be able to teach one or more of macroeconomics, micro-economics and public economics. The applicant should have extensive teaching experience at the post-graduate level. Candidates, who have contributed to educational innovation, design of new curricula and courses and technology-mediated teaching-learning process, will be preferred. The candidates should preferably be below 45 years.

General Instructions for Candidates: 1. The application has to be filled out online on the Institute’s website i.e. www.iegindia.org under the “Career” web link along with the instant advertisement. Applications will be processed on rolling basis. The first set of application needs to be submitted by March 10, 2023. The second set of application needs to be submitted by April 30, 2023. Those who have applied with reference to the previous advertisement need not to apply again. 2. Applicants are required to download the filled up application form and send it along with self-attested educational qualification certificates and testimonials (hard copy) and API Score. Please also send the names of three references and copies of the ten best publications by post. On the top of the envelope, please write “Application for the Post of Professor, Indian Economic Service Unit, addressed to the Director, Institute of Economic Growth, University of Delhi Enclave, North Campus, Delhi–110007. The hard copy of the application should reach to the Institute within 10 days from the close of online application as indicated at SI No.1 above. 3. The applicants who have already applied will be considered with the new applications. 4. Candidates working in Government/Autonomous Bodies/Universities/ Institutions of repute must send the hard copy of the application through the proper channel. 5. Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI), if selected, the appointment will be on contract for up to three years subject to clearance from the Govt. of India before he/she can join the Institute. Extension beyond three years will be subject to a review process and necessary approvals may be required. 6. Application received without complete information shall be rejected. 7. Consequent to the adoption of self-certification provisions as required by the Government of India, the Institute shall process the applications entirely on the basis of information/ documents submitted by the candidates duly self-attested. In case the information/documents are found to be false/incorrect by way of omission or commission, the responsibility and liability shall be the sole responsibility of the candidate. 8. Candidate called for interview should report along with all the testimonials/certificates in original along with photo ID. 9. Candidates should possess the prescribed qualification and experience as of the closing date of application. Candidates are required to produce specific certificates as per eligibility conditions. 10. Further, merely fulfilling the minimum qualifications or the eligibility criteria does not entitle a candidate to be necessarily considered or called for an interview. More stringent criteria may be applied for short-listing the candidates to be called for an interview. 11. No correspondence or personal enquiries shall be entertained by the Institute.
