Indian Institute of Technology Goa is inviting applications from individuals to fill the post of Junior Research Fellow to work under the project titled “Direct Combustion of Metal Fuel”.

Nature of work: Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the School of Mechanical Sciences, IIT Goa for SERB CRG funded project titled ‘Direct combustion of metal fuels’. The project is affiliated with the CoE combustion, which was established at IIT Goa with the focus on sustainable combustion and propulsion technologies. The nature of the work will be predominantly experimental. The research fellow will engage in activities such as literature review, design and commissioning of experimental setups, combustion experiments with metal powder fuels, data acquisition and analysis, and theoretical/ analytical modelling. The research fellow will be given a choice to enroll for a PhD position at IIT Goa.

Essential qualification: 1. Master’s Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace or related branches with 60% marks or CPI 6/10 or equivalent. (55% marks or CPI 5.5/10 or equivalent for SC/ST). OR Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Aerospace or related branches with 70% marks or CPI 7/10 or equivalent. (65% marks or CPI 6.5/10 or equivalent for SC/ST) 2. Qualified GATE SCORE in the relevant streams (Candidates with Bachelor’s degree must have a valid GATE Scorecard)

Desirable:  Strong research aptitude and previous research experience.Ø  Knowledge of combustion and thermos-fluids engineering subjects.Ø  Exposure to flow measuring devices, instrumentation, data acquisitionØ  Exposure to optical/laser diagnostics, combustion/propulsion relatedØ experiments  Experience with ANSYS-like CFD software, MATLAB, lab view, andØ python programing  Interested in enrolling for the Ph.D. programØ
